If you delete config.php the cms makes a new install.
The script makes a warning, that the datatables are overwritten .
It is a good idea to delete cache and template_c too, because you can start after new install on this way with old values.

Piratos, you can also post bugs and feature requests in the tracker for a project in the forge, in this case the CMS Made Simple Core project at http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/projects/cmsmadesimple/

That way it is easier for the developers to keep track of what needs attention.
