Skin for mobile Devices -> Browser recognition?

Hi there! Since I am also browsing Webpages via Pocket PC via our university WLAN I had the idea that it would be a good idea to include somthing like that in my own web project. So. Sending PocketPCs a certain layout after browser recognition (or better OS recognition) is an easy one with PHP usually. Is it possible doing a module that checks OS/browser and sends users different layout? Any ideas?

P.S.: Don't think aynthing bad about my style of writing. Been on sleep depriviation whole week. Lab, Study, Learning at home, working and doing work for the student's association has cut my sleep to about 4 hours per day this week. But I think the idea is clear...
