PHP.INI / Apache CGI instance.

Post by cmdxlove »

OK, so i am not a php whiz, and i need help!

I installed cmsms yesterday on my webserver and loved it, everything was perfect, today i went to install it for a friend on her server and its not so simple this time and her web hosting tech support is not being helpful at all.

maybe someone here can?

so shes got a linux server running php4.4, and MySQL4.0 but what i think is the issue is that her hosting has it set up so that php scripts
will be run as an Apache CGI instance, not as an Apache module. When  i scoured their website on how to change my configurations to no avail, i called tech support and was told they cant change it that i need to make a php.ini or.htaccess file. (i tried to figure this out - but not being too knowledged on scripting am really lost)

Im not even sure if the tech support guy was very knowledged cause when i asked him questions he got very snippy, just directed me to this page of their FAQ (http://faq.1and1.com/dedicated_servers/ ... er/10.html) and said i had to do it myself.

anyone ???

ps: that "advanced config" button you see in the faq does not exist, thats why i ended up calling them to change it. and then was told they cant

Well, you've not given us any information on what the problem is, just your assessment of the reason, so it's kinda difficult to know what you want us to advise you about.

What, exactly, is the problem on the site?
Can you install CMSMS?
Are there errors or warnings during the install?
Can you post a link to the site?

This is not a CMS issue its an issue with apache not understanding index.php files in a CGI environment.

Try google.
