Cataloger or Company Directory for restaurant review site?

Hi CMSMSers,

I'm developing a restaurant review site using CMSMS and need to have each venue listed in a database.

I would like the restaurants categorised by area.

The homepage of the site needs to be a paginated (category) list of reviewed restaurants, listed in a table- one restaurant per row.

The table should have a number of column headings such as name, area, rating and price. Clicking on a column heading will sort the list in order of that heading.

Clicking on a "more info" link in each row will link through to the review (item) page for that restaurant.

Is this possible with either Cataloger or Company Directory?

I've installed Cataloger and had a look around- I've got a category page and some item pages working, but it's the listing on the category page that I've got stuck with.

Any help/ pointers, or just knowing that it's possible with either of these modules would be great.

its possible with both. if you asked me 6 months ago, i would have said cataloger.

now, id say company directory, its really flexible and now, custom fields are viewable in summary templates. w00p!

with rating, there is a module RateThis, which may work. or you can write your own, i'm working on a site which sells tyres (tires for you americans) and i set a 1 through 10 in a custom field. and when its displayed in the template, it calls a star picture named 1.gif thru 10.gif

Do you have any live examples of sites that are using either Cataloger or Company Directory? Would help to see them properly set up and in action.

its a site i was developing last year but work has taken over and its been on the back burner (aka not finished)

dont have anything live with cataloger at the moment unfortunately.

Thanks very much for that- I think I'm getting the way I can get things to work the way I want straight in my head now.

Still not 100% sure which is going to be best for us out of C. Directory or Cataloger- need to do some more experimenting to settle that one. It seems that Cataloguer's easier to get custom fields going- I tried to get them to work on the overview page, but couldn't find or figure out the right syntax to use to get them there.
