Insufficient directory permissions to install modules

Hello,

After moving my web project to Godaddy.com for hosting (not my choice) I can't install any modules.  Error reads:

WARNING: Insufficient directory permissions to install modules. You may also be experiencing problems with PHP Safe mode. Please ensure that safe mode is disabled, and that file system permissions are sufficient.

I changed the file permissions on the modules directory to 777 still no joy.

Checking with Godaddy about php safe mode but I'll be suprised if they have that turned on.

Any ideas on how I can further trouble shoot this issue?

Also, thougth I might just download the xml file for the module I want to install but guess what...

Could I have messed something up in the config.php that would create these problems?

Try to install module with compress file

Thank for replying I will try your suggestion.

Also, found that Godaddy:

"No, we do not run PHP  in safe mode on our Linux hosting servers."

This leaves my confused as to why cmsms would say the permissions are incorrect when they are not?

I'm having this same problem with 2 of my sites.  PHP Safe Mode is not on and entire modules folder is 777 - yet when trying to go to either the modules or module manager i get:

Funny thing is, i have 3 CMSMS sites on this server, and only 2 of them are having this problem.  The 3rd is fine.  All 3 are setup exactly the same with regards to directory ownershps etc...  Anyone have any idea of what I'm overlooking?

Possibly the Uploads folder also needs to be CHMOD 777? Doing so removed the error message for me.

tried to install 2.4.8 but couldn't.

you have to change the max upload size in the config.php

it's set to 2.0M and TinyMCE needs 2.7MB..
