Question about UserID and ProtectedPages

Post by peram »

Hi.

I have UserID 0.4.0 and ProtectedPages 0.9.5 installed and have a question.  As the functionallity is today I get redirected to a specific page after logging in.  I was wondering if anyone has implemented UserID/PP in either of the followin ways :
  • The User click's on a protected page *before* loggin in and is  redirected to a "login-page".  After entering a valid username/passwd the user is transfered back to the page he tried to access.
  • Each protected page has the username/passwd fields presented in the the page *until* the user has logged in
I hope it's clear what I try to accomplish here - if not let me know.

I would suggest that you have a look at the UserId - CustomContent combination. CustomContent has a more dynamic way of handling things. In the same page you can show one thing if the visitor is logged in and another (perhaps the username/password boxes) if not.

Calguy1000 has recently released the Frontenduser module which go together with CustomContent. That combination may give you even better functions, but I haven't tried that myself yet.

Hi

I have the "new" FrontEndUser/CustomPages-combo on my devel-site, but it has a problem with php 5 at the moment.  I was trying to set this "easyer" navigation on the production-site that uses the other combo.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm not gonna change things on the production server.  Then the users will have to live with the "Limitation" for the time beeing.

If anyone has some other ideas -> I'm all ears... :-)
