TinyMCE Does not show up

Post by centramedia »

We are using a plesk panel with CMSMS 1.2.3 Black Rock. We have never been able to get the editor to show up in the content pages. CMS works fine, and all the features seems to work. We have tried multiple different editors also, and they also will not work. One thing that we did notice, is that when using the TinyMCE or any editor is that we get an page error when we load the content pages. usually the error is tinymce is not defined. Ofcourse you can replace the tinymce with any editor that we select.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Basically using windows Internet Explorer versions 6 or 7, when you load the content editing page, the wysiwyg does not load and there is a a icon in the bottom left of the browser. You click on the icon and a box comes up and states that there was an error loading the page, tinymce is undefined.

I too am having problems getting TinyMCE to show up.  I load the page where it should be and nothign shows, even though all the settings indicate it should be

Version:  2.4.0a1

Heres the errors I have displaying on the page:
Cannot gnerate system identifier for general entity "page"
general entity "page" not defined and no default entity
reference to entity "page" for which no system identifier could be generated
I'm going to go back through the versions and see if i can find one that works, in the mean time if anyone can translate or fix the above I'd be gratefull.

Hello,

I've just made a fresh test install of CMSms 1.2.4. In Extensions -> Modules I have TinyMCE 2.2.7. This is strange because there is a 2.2.8 in http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/frs/?group_id=12 before 1.2.4.

TinyMCE is selected as a default option in the user preferences.
It "just works" here out of the box. (I only had to add "pasteword" in the first toolbar).
I'm using Firefox2.

Please try to upgrade to 1.2.4. Please try with FF2 to narrow the issue (IE or config). Check you site settings, user preferences, and others places where you can opt/select wysiwyg.
@Richardo : may be 2.4.0a1 is too new, may be alpha ?

Sorry for this silly question but is Javascript activated ?

Don't know if this helps
http://wiki.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php ... ntable=yes
Quote :
If the TinyMCE toolbar does not appear when you are editing a page and the content appears as plain text or HTML, first check that you have actually set TinyMCE as your editor (see above).

If you have corrected this and it still does not work: in some cases (as with the OVH hosting provider in France) you will see the checkbox Turn WYSIWYG on/off, yet the toolbar does not appear.

If that is the case, do not frantically re-install CMSMS; you only need to restrict the access right of the modules directory to 555 or, to 755 and it will work. In other words, you must at least remove the write access right for the rest of the world.

This problem was covered in the thread http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... 5msg_id%25 (in French).

That's great. Thank you.

I wonder why Tiny worked fine before, and then I lost the tools bars completely, and now it works after I changed the permissions on the modules folder to 755.

Its worth doing a search in the forums.

Cheers for this solution guys! Helped me out of the ditch.

======================================

Modifying my post:

It seems to be only working under firefox - and its not working in internet explorer for some reason.

I have attached a screenshot of the error which is generated by IE.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!!!!!!

User's pref, wysiwyg to use : TinyMCE.
Extensions->Modules : TinyMCE v2.2.7, status=installed.
Extensions->Module Manager : there is a TinyMCE v2.4.0a2, status = not downloaded.
Extensions->TinyMCE wysiwyg Basic : 3 tabs, preview works, and show wysiwyg yes/no checked at the bottom.

Hi,

Thanks Pierre M.

I uninstalled the TinyMCE v2.4.0a which I had previously and Configured my CMS modules with the details you provided. Except my CMS Version is 1.2.4 Greenland.

Its working fine in both IE7 and FF2

CMS Version: 1.2.4 "Greenland"
User's pref, wysiwyg to use : TinyMCE.
Extensions->Modules : TinyMCE v2.2.7, status=installed.
Extensions->Module Manager : there is a TinyMCE v2.4.0a2, status = not downloaded.
Extensions->TinyMCE wysiwyg Basic : 3 tabs, preview works, and show wysiwyg yes/no checked at the bottom.
User in admin group : has all rights.

Cheers,

i have found the problem!
When i deinstall TinyMCE 2.4.0a2 and install version 2.2.6, then its works well in IE7.

It's a bug i think, lets hope there's a new version of TinyMCE as soon as possible!

If the "a" in the version number is for alpha software it shouldn't be installed and run on live sites. CMSms 1.2.4 installs TinyMCE 2.2.7 and it works : unless you want to help debug alpha software you shouldn't install it.
