Errors with PageBlocks and Articles

I've been trying in vain to make PageBlocks or Articles work for me.  I've installed and tested them on versions of CMS from 1.0.8 to the most recent version and without success.

The error log points out this error for Articles:

Call to a member function isXtendedModule() on a non-object in /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs/cms2/modules/Articles/action.manage.php on line 415,

and this for PageBlocks:
PHP Fatal error:  Call to a member function IsWYSIWYG() on a non-object in /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs/cms2/admin/footer.php on line 56

PageBlocks has worked for me before in the same setting.  I'm running Apache/2.0.54 (Fedora) with PHP 5.0.4.

I get the same error for articles. When I click Add Article i get:

Fatal error: Call to a member function isXtendedModule() on a non-object in /home/www/my_domain/temp/cmsms/modules/Articles/action.manage.php on line 415

Can someone tell us how to fix this?
