[SOLVED] Tiering News Categories

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[SOLVED] Tiering News Categories

Post by Andrew Prior »

I think I am probably missing the obvious, which someone can tell me in two lines.

I have two news categories in version 1.1.2 which show up in different areas of my client's site.

Usually a news post relates to the readers of category a or readers of categorey b.  Occasionally it is relevant to both categories.  It strikes me that I should be able to  set up categories and child categories that would allow me to make a news post that would show up in both categories, rather than post twice.  if this is so, I've not been able to find how.  I'd be glad if someone could enlighten me to the obvious.  ::)

I don't think articles can belong to more than one category, at present - this would be an enhancement to the current News module. However, as a simple solution, you could have Cat A, Cat B and Cat C, where Cat C was used for common articles. Then your news display for one group would be Cat A + Cat C and the other group Cat B + Cat C.
