SectionImage Level 2 not working?

I tried using Level 2 for SectionImage and put the alias filename for the image, but it's still only showing section images for the top level.

This is what I have in the template. This is with cmsms 1.2.3, so I don't know if it should work or not:
{sectionimage image_path='images/cms' level='2' byname=1 extension="jpg" lowercase=1}

You keep your images in images/cms?...

That was only meant to be for backend images...

I can put it in upload/images also, but I don't think it makes a difference for the level thing...
