htaccess for session.save_path

I am trying to create an htaccess file and keep getting a forbidden message mentioning that I do not have the permissions to access the website. I am doing this in order I to solve the problem on the installation page that checks if session are enabled (they are not). The same thing happens weither the file is empty or not. I tried to change permissions  775, 777 etc. but this was in vain. please help I am kinda stuck and don t really get it!

some hosters disable .htaccess files for customers (yes its stupid).

I'm not sure I understand well.

the installation page that checks if session are enabled (they are not).

If PHP sessions are disabled you don't feet the requirements.
