New error message in my Image folder-"is_dir()....not within the allowed...

this is the message suddenly appearing in my image folder

We are using CMS Made Simple 1.0.4 Lanai
PHP 5.1.6
MySQL 14.12 Dist No. 5.0.27
working with Apache 1.3.37
on Linux

our website person no longer answers his phone messages or emails so we do not know how to alter the php script for this folder...since all we've done is add images, I wonder if we have exceeded our limit?

any help would be so appreciated...this message is alarming
