Adding extra content block to default page but more important news[SOLVED]

Hi,

New to cmsms but so far loving it. There are a few things Ive been trying to to though that I cant find the answer to. Maybe becuase I dont know what its called and where to look.

I want to add another "content" block to news. So when someone is adding a news article they have a block for just the image related to that article. By default the admin side of adding a news article is summary and content. I want image, summary and content.

I guess its exactly like adding a third sidebar and making this appear when someone adds another page. But I havent figured out how to add theese sort of things.

Can someone please point me in the right direction.

Make sure you're using CMS 1.2.2 the News module in that allows 'custom fields'.

Cant figure out how(all the steps that are needed) to add for example {image} so that it apperas in editors mode(when someone is about to publish an article).

Calguy: Found something you wrote awhile back. Looks like it´s what Im looking for, not only for the normal pages but also for being able to add a box to the news. You wrote but I didnt find any detailed info on how:
Yes, exactly.  I have a template with four content blocks....  {content} // located in the middle {content block=top}, {content block=left} and {content block=right} for a three column layout with a separate area on top for more content.

When I create a page, and assign that template to the page, I get four edit areas to work with, allowing me to specify different content in each of the four areas on all of the pages that use that template.

You can also use global content blocks (think of them as html snippets that allow you to re-use the same html code in multiple different locations) in templates, and/or in pages.

Found it.
At least i think i did.
Added a field definition. called it image and it appeared in editors mode. At the bottom, not that funny but at least it is there.
If anyone knows how I can make a field definition in the news module appear at the top(logged in as editor/admin). Please let me know.

I also had to remove the field if cases in the template sinceit showed the field twice on the page.

Yeah, the default templates are just there as  'examples of some of the things you can do'.  they're not designed to be used automatically.... you will need to atleast style some things, and possibly edit templates.
