the bulletmenu plugin has the start_element parameter (optionally) in which you list the hierarchy of the start element. However, this can be irritating when menu items are quite dynamic or change from time to time. to help with that, I've added the "start_page" optional parameter that allows you to specify a page id or even better yet a page alias to start iat.
