News module - Upload file

I did a search but couldn't locate this specific question, though there might be similar questions on how the Uploads module works in conjunction with other modules.

When I create a new News Article, I see the Upload File field at the bottom of the form. When I use it to attach a file to the article, the filename does show up next to the field. So it seems like the upload was successful, and the file continues to be associated if you come back to the article later after saving/submitting it. However, on the front end, there is no indication that there is a file attached to the news article.

How can I get the filename to display as a download link? Less importantly, is there any way to show the proper icon for the file type?

You have to modify the template to display the file.

am having the same issue. but what do I have to modify the "if" statement to in the template?
