error messages on untarring - does it matter

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

error messages on untarring - does it matter

Post by Chris153 »

I have just uploaded cmsmadesimple-1.2.tar.gz to the C-panel X File Manager (HostNine basic hosting - I don't think I have a SSH option).
I asked the File Manager to extract all the files. I now have a long list of files, but it ends like this, with these error messages:

cmsmadesimple-1.2/lib/adodb_lite/adodbSQL_drivers/postgres/postgres_meta_module.inc

gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file
cmsmadesimple-1.2/lib/adodb_lite/adodbSQL_drivers/postgres/postgres_date_module.inc
cmsmadesimple-1.2/lib/adodb_lite/adodbSQL_drivers/postgres/postgres_datadict.inc
cmsmadesimple-1.2/lib/adodb_lite/adodbSQL_drivers/postgres/postgres_transaction_module.inc
cmsmadesimple-1.2/lib/adodb_lite/adodbSQL_drivers/postgres/postgres_extend_module.inc
cmsmadesimple-1.2/lib/adodb_lite/adodbSQL_drivers/postgres/postgres_driver.inc
cmsmadesimple-1.2/lib/adodb_lite/adodbSQL_drivers/sybase/
cmsmadesimple-1.2/lib/adodb_lite/adodbSQL_drivers/sybase/sybase_driver.inc
cmsmadesimple-1.2/lib/adodb_lite/adodbSQL_drivers/sybase/sybase_date_module.inc
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

Are these errors going to produce problems? Should I try again, or go ahead with my install?

Is it better to unzip the files on my local (Windows XP) computer before uploading them, or upload the tarball to the host and extract them there, as I have done.
PHP version  4.4.7
MySQL version 4.1.20-standard

Thanks for your help.

UPDATE
I downloaded the zip version of cmsmadesimple 1.2 because i got this error message when I tried to open index.php in my browser as per the installation instructions for FTP.

Warning: main(/home/chris153/public_html/cms/lib/misc.functions.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/chris153/public_html/cms/index.php on line 46

Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/chris153/public_html/cms/lib/misc.functions.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/chris153/public_html/cms/index.php on line 46

which seemed to indicate missing files.

I unzipped the files on my Windows XP machine.  I used Filezilla to upload the unzipped files, but I asked to skip files which were already there. There seemed to be a lot of missing files, judgin by the number of files it uploaded.

However, I now get this error message on trying to open index.php from my browser:

Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: cmsinstaller in /home/chris153/public_html/cms/install/index.php on line 32

Any advice would be welcome.
