How to ...

Post by Ykit »

Hi,

I am a newbie in CMS.
Could any kind soul advise me how to:

- make a table in the page to fill in data? Using html code?

- when I upload a excel file, it became a zip file when I tried to open it from the link i set on the page for download.
How can I download the excel file or any other files from the page without turning it into a zip file?

Thank you very much!

Ykit  :)

Hello,

-"make a table in the page to fill in data" :

This is the only reason I know to use HTML . If your WYSIWYG of choice doesn't handle it (have you checked its preferences ?) you can put the HTML tags in a "source input" area.

-"uploaded .xls has become a zip when downloaded" :

Strange. I don't know much about this. Is your webserver well configured with MIME types ? Do you use the "uploads" module ?

Hi Pierre,

I have managed to get table option added onto the page editor with the help from my boss.
Now, I can add and edit tables easily.

As for the file link problem, I have discovered that documents created by Microsoft Office 2007 are not compatible with CMS Made Simple.
They will be automatically turned into zip files. When I convert them back to office 2003 versions, it works normally.

Thanks for the advises.
Cheers,

Ykit

Pierre,

it is the top checkbox in the preferences of TinyMCE, under "Extensions -> Tiny MCE..." called "Allow table operations".

Thank you Ronny, I wanted to say it would be better for all users if people explained more HOW things have been solved to reduce the "I'm having same issue" bumps.
