News module problems (bugs?)

Post by jeroen94704 »

Hell all,

I'm a new CMSMS user, and very pleased with my experience so far! Two things I noticed in the News module, which may be bugs or just my misunderstanding:

1) My site has only short news items, so I usually skip the summary, and only fill in the main content. Now when I later go back to this article to edit it, a single is inserted in the summary. This means there will be an empty news item with a more link to the content.

2) Ironically, when I wanted to post a news-item announcing the RSS feed, the actual URL to the feed broke the validation of the feed. It seems the ampersand's in the URL are not properly encoded. When I tried to do this by hand (replacing & with &) CMSMS "conveniently" converted them back to &.

That's an error caused by the WYSIWYG editor.

Seems to be a WYSIWYG issue too.

Try editing without WYSIWYG or with, I think, FCK or HTMLarea instead.

Right, that makes sense. Editing without WYSIWIG switched on solves that issue.

This problem is not fixed when switching to non-WYSIWYG mode. It's when my RSS reader tries to validate the feed that it complains about the feed being invalid XML. Try placing the link to the RSS feed itself in a news item, and then validate the feed using feedvalidator.org. It'll complain about the the feed being not well-formed XML.

I searched for info on installing FCK, but couldn't find it. Any docs explaining this, or is it easy? Never mind, I just saw the post just below this one.

Cheers,

Jeroen

Could you post what exactly the error is? Just to let you know, here's my RSS template:

Code: Select all

IALT aktuell

Aktuelle Nachrichten des Institutes für Angewandte Linguistik und Translatologie der Universität Leipzig

 {foreach from=$items item=entry}

{$entry->title}

{$entry->gmdate}

{$entry->category}

{if $entry->summary}$entry->summary
{/if}{$entry->content}

 {/foreach}

Maybe try playing around with the CDATA thing - just google it, might help!

But when you use HTMLarea I can not use CSS fontstyles (I have made my own HEADINGS, bodycopy and other tags). What can I do to solve that problem.

Also (WYSIWYG problem also?) there is generated a lot of code on each sentece in html.

EXAMPLE

Code: Select all

Ouderwetse service

Vraag ons om advies en/of offerte

Verbeteren bestaande sites
U ben al aanwezig op het internet.
