how to permanently expand one menu item?

hi all,

how would i go about making one section of my menu permanently expanded?

for example, even if menu items 1, 2 and 4 had children, it would only show item 3:

1. hello
2. hello
3. hello
  3.1 sub
  3.2 sub2
  3.3 sub3
4. hello


any ideas?

Does 3 have any content or does it work only as container?
