Problems with SEO?

Post by Zappa »

Hi there, (Currently using Simple CMS 1.0.6) My website has been crawled by the google bot and has indexed my website but the only two pages showing are www.mysite.com and www.mysite.com/home.

I'm using the metadata information text area to input my metadata which can be set in the options tab on each page and I've set the format as:

-title-
-description-
-robots-
-revisit-
-links (CSS)-

Is google always like this or could it be my website?

Thanks

How long is your site indexed?

maybe it's just a matter of time...

I created a site and it took about 30 days till all my pages where indexed.

I must have done about 20-30 sites in CMSMS and they all do well in the search engines bar one. Think thats more to do with the previous site's being blacklisted.

Give it time, maybe re jig in while if you get no joy but I'd stick to your guns if I were you. I know our own site took 6months till we saw real results. We're flying it now though - 1st page for everything we need to be.

1. HTML is better for SEO. Make your pages as HTML page instead of "index.php?page=home".
2. Create sitemap.xml for your site and create an google webmaster account for your site, submit the sitemap.xml to google.
3. You can see your pages indexed by google in one or two weeks. You can have all pages be indexed by google in two or three monthes if the pages meet googles basic standard.

I've been listed on there for about 4 months now, previously 1 1/2 years with the previous setup. surely if I was blacklisted or the guy who had the domain before me, it would block all links to the domain?

You could use http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ or some other service to create your sitemap.xml. After creating your sitemap check the links in file it created as Google should be able to find same. if you only see those 2 pages in the file created you definately have some issues making your site inaccessible for searchengines.

I went onto the Google Webmaster accoutn and its been using an old sitemap from June 2006. I've updated the sitemap now so I'll just wait for it to crawl and see what the outcome is. Hopefully good :)

Thanks for the help
