Upgrade 1.0.2 to Upgrade 1.0.3 problems.

I have several sites and tried to upgrade them from 1.0.2 to 1.0.6 but had problems a while ago trying to go to 1.0.4 so have followed advice here to upgrade incrimentaly.
I tried to go from 1.0.2 to 1.0.3 and when I go to the www.mysite.com/install/upgrade.php I get the message that the site needs upgrading but when I go to the next stage I get the page loading and stop.....?

Upgrade System

Upgrading config.php...[done]

Cleaning cache dirs...[done]

Creating "Modify Events" permission...[done]

Updating schema version... [done]

Upgrading Search module from 1.0.4 to 1.1...

It then just hangs for ever.  I have tried both differential and full install to upgrade and get the same problem.
Has anyone ever come across this and overcome it?

Upgrading directly should work fine (even from older versions). You can always try doing an incremental upgrade if a direct one doesn't work for you, but I doubt that will bypass issues you're experiencing during a direct upgrade.

It looks like the upgrade on your site chokes ( (PHP throws a fatal error) on the search module upgrade.
Check your webserver logs for more info on what is going wrong (that's hard to tell without a PHP error message).

Personally I would try this:
Upload the full 1.0.6 package to your webserver and try an upgrade.
If it fails (during Search upgrade again), uninstall the Search module and delete the Search module folder and try upgrade again.
When upgrading without the search module succeeds, upload the Search module folder and try installing the Search module.

Thanks Dee I did that but I now have further problems. 
The whole site is amass of errors.
I have disabled ADObe in the config.php so I can at least get some content on the screen but the whole site is littered with errors. .

I managed to get up to Ver 1.0.5 and these are the errors now visible to the public:-

These are the errors in the Admin panel all over.

I have checked the weblogs and find no errors relating to the php except 404 errors where pages are not found which were there before I tried to upgrade.

There may be some issue with the setup of the server but being like the greater majority of web publishers have no control over that.  As my site is trashed anyway I will try an install of 1.0.6 and see what happens.

Failing some miracle my only way forward at this time appears to be to re-install 1.0.2

Disaster has struck.  My back up of the DB now refuses to re-install due to a syntax error.

I tried to install a clean version of 1.0.6 and I get the ADObe errrors.  It appears that somehow the server is not delivering up the DB type?
