Automatic archiving?

Post by Joppjopp »

Hello!
I am interested in using CMSMS for a small that publishes news articles. To make it useful CMSMS needs to be able to archive old news automatically to a new page (maybe one page for every month or perhaps year). I also need to be able to publish "news teasers" on one page and let the teasers link to the proper article pages. Does CMSMS do this?

Kind regards
Jesper

Jesper,

this is in fact what expiry date does on news-items. You can categorise news and put expiry-date on the news items. On the default pages you can call "module news" with categories or without categories, showing all non expired news. On another page, you can call news with the archive option, to show ONLY expired news. Check the help of news to see the proper parameters.

Thanks for the reply. Is is possible to show teasers on two or more different pages? And maybe a different number of teasers on each page?

Jesper,

if you check the help of the module news, you'll find all possible parameters you can give in the calling of news. I think "number=" is one of them, giving you the opportunity to call it on specific places with specific parameters. You can call it with "category" on one page, with another category on another page and additional with the number of items you wnat to see.
