0.10 is close!

Post by Ted »

My goal is to release it this Friday.  I'm not making promises, but it's looking good.

Ok, as far as I know, the only major remaining bugs are with TinyMCE.  There is also a weird issue where someone can get into a loop when logging in.  I've never seen this one myself, and will need some help tracking it down.

What I need for you guys.

1. Translations need updating one last time.  I don't believe the admin has changed much (or at all) since beta4.  However, the News module has a lot of new text that needs updating.  Also, anyone who hasn't done their translations for the modules yet, go for it.  If not, the modules will default to English, but I'm not sure that's what everyone wants.  :)

2. Post any remaing bugs here or in mantis.  I'm going to do a top-down order them, and minor or rare stuff will probably still be in 0.10.  It will be a prod release, but we're not 1.0, so a couple of little issues could still remain...

If you guys feel an rc is in order for upgrade testing or what have you, I'm all for it.  However, the majority of code has been around since beta3 or 4 and I feel it's pretty good.  You tell me...

Also, just to remind.  0.10 will be mostly "feature complete" for version 1.0.  We have to stop the madness at some point and get a release release of this out in the wild.  So, bugs please.  Small features and slight overlooks are ok.  Major stuff is going to have to wait.

Thanks everyone, and sorry this took so long!  ;)

I'm very glad there will be a 0.10 version very soon.
a couple of image thing that aren't working in the last SVN version are.

if you want to insert a image
Image
this is what I get:
Image

And if I want to insert a image like this
Image
and you haven't any image in gallery, so you upload a new one.
And then if you want to Save you get this:

Image

But if you do it again and er is already a image inside the gallery it's no problem to select an image
but if you save it you get this in your editor:

Image

Hopefully this problem's will be solved in de 0.10 verion.

Keep on the good work.

I just fixed the first problem.  The second one is kind of out of my league, since it's so buried in javascript madness.  If anyone else wants to take a stab at it.  :)

The HTMLArea is incompatible  with Firefox.

And in Internet Explorer if the HTMLArea is active the [Main][Options]
don't work and it shows everything on the edit page

FCKeditor  or SPAW are very good WYSIWYG editors both combatible with most internet browsers

Yeah, they're all good options.  I chose TinyMCE because it's xhtml compliant, small, and integrates easily into CMSMS (for images and css).  The options all works, but there is no perfect WYSIWYG and never will be.

My motto is, if you care that much about the code it's spitting out, don't use a WYSIWYG.  It's for people that don't know HTML and that's about it.

I agree with you 100% wishy. Tried them all - they all have quirks!

wishy, did you ever find a way to stop TinyCME from rewriting explicit changes to source?

If only there was a tag or somehting that you could wrap code in that you didn't want 'tidied'.

It's what it is, unfortunatly.  I really had to stop looking at tinyMCE for fear that I would pull my hair out.  Sad part is that it is still the best choice, even though it is a pain in the royal ass sometimes...

I wonder if this change in 1.45 RC1 of Tiny will help
Added new mceInsertRawHTML command, this inserts raw as it is HTML code in the the selected position.
However I can not find any documentation on their site ...

UPDATE:
I see the final version 1.45 is out today...

Well, it looks like 0.10 is going to have to wait a bit longer.

1.45 of TinyMCE is out, and since so many people have problems, I guess I should upgrade it.

Still need a lot of translation stuff from 0.10 can be released.  Here is the situation...

Main Admin:
German, Brazilian Portuguese, Danish, Norwegian, Czech and Slovak are up to date.
Dutch, Finnish, Both Chinese and Italian are WAY out of date.  Most 0.9.2 or earlier.

Comments Module:
Czech, German, French and Norwegian are up to date.  Rest don't exist.

News Module:
Czech, German, French and Norwegian exist, but are out of date.  Rest don't exist.

PHPLayers Module:
Czech, German, French and Norwegian are up to date.  Rest don't exist.

RSS Module:
Czech, German, French and Norwegian are up to date,   Rest don't exist.

TinyMCE Module:
Czech, German, French and Norwegian are up to date.   Rest don't exist.

I'd like a decent coverage of languages for 0.10.  Please, even if you're not a normal contributor, if you speak the above languages, please ask how to contribute.  0.10 is going to have to wait a bit until it's all up to date.

Thanks!

And also, if you want to sneak a new translation in for 0.10, we're all for it.  Please ask how!  Thanks!

Mambo sucks, that's why I am here.
Now they call it Joomla, but it still sucks!

Ok, first, grab the daily build.  The URL is: http://cmsmadesimple.org/cms-daily.tar.gz

Install it somewhere, if you can.  If you can't, well that's ok too.  At least you'll have the necessary files.

First, to finish up the admin's translation, open up the admin/lang/nl_NL/admin.inc.php file.  Replace all the strings as necessary.

Now, the modules will need new translation files as well.  First go to modules/News/lang.  Copy the en_US.php file to nl_NL.php.  Modify the strings.  Do that also for the RSS, Comments, PHPLayers and TinyMCE modules.

Archive up those 6 files (zip, rar, tar, etc) and email them to wishy@cmsmadesimple.org.

Should only probably take 30 min of your time.

If you have any problems, please let me know.

Thanks!
