Unrelenting 'Site Down For Maintenance'

Post by doodlebg »

Throughout the implementation of content and templates I was able to view the site, but as soon as I finished everything, the 'Site Down For Maintenance' message showed up. I unchecked that option. Submitted. Same thing. Multiple times. Same thing. I checked the forums and other people had similar issues to this but none were resolved to my knowledge. Deleting the file '/tmp/cache/SITEDOWN' didn't work because the file doesn't exist. What could this be and how do I fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried to clear cache (admin panel, menu Site admin > Global settings)?

I tried what you suggested but unfortunately it didn't fix the problem.

I did finally figure out a way to get the site out of 'Maintenance' mode. It's not pretty, but it works. I opened up the 'siteprefs.php' file and manually changed the '$enablesitedownmessage = "1";' variable to equal 'zero' rather than '1'. Now, this disables the built in feature, but if you really need it enabled again, just manually change it back to '1'.

Hope this helps someone else out there. Cheers.
