Sure simon...that would be great! Ive implemented the htaccess and changed news mod and config files as per instructions but im using 'use_hierarchy'] = false; so having a problem with making the news friendly urls

i got it working on my localhost.

you must set this setting to true, otherwise it will not work.

Thanks for the info simon but my friendly url scheme is working a treat....ill have to wait until news uses friendly urls in the mod......my site has some good seo and thats more important right now than the news articals i post on it...
