Suggestion - update FCKeditor module to latest release for CMSMS
I was just having a look at the latest version of FCK text editor - http://www.fckeditor.net/demo - and I must say it's quite impressive. I could do with a lot of those tools on my CMSMS.
However the last FCKeditorX module for CMSMS was 1.0.3, release lated 2006.
I was wondering, is it possible to port the current release of FCKeditor (2.5.1, or 2.6 Beta) to the current CMSMS?
Is it also possible to keep some features from FCKeditorX 1.0.3 such as the "Insert modules call" and integrate that with the latest FCKeditor release as a module for CMSMS?
I would do the port if I could but I'm not much of a programmer and don't know my way around the CMSMS backend.
So, who would like to see this happen?

Silmarillion is the wysiwyg guy.... and though we've gone to TinyMCE in the core, I think Sil still supports FCK.
Now if he's busy doing other things, and this is a priority to you, maybe you could arrange to give him an incentive.

Hi SPeter and others
A FCKeditorX version 1.1.0b1 is in the Forge now including FCK 2.6b1. Please not that it is quite untested, I did little but injecting the new editorversion and saw that it loaded.
If it fails to show at first, try to change the theme.. And please report if you have this problem as I did...
It should show up in the Module Manager in some hours as well..
Tiny-version needs more work as I've pulled quite a bit of the module apart... will get something out includning Tiny 3.0.4 soonish!
Regards
Morten

Hi Morten,
Thank you for your work!
I tried the FCKeditor
1. When I try to download through the Module Manager I get this:
Anyway, I downloaded the zip file and it works!!!
Even the style dropdown menu!
What about a mug of beer? (if you visit Hungary...)

Peter

Great that it works! I've heard about the ModuelManager problem before, but never been able to narrow it down, I simply export the xml from Extensions-list... should work, but the ModuleManager-auther has been notified.
I'll hold you to the beer if I come by Hungary!

I'm looking forward to the new version of TinyMCE.
Take the latest stable version, I think that should be the best (3.0.5 at present date).
Your work is much appreciated Silmarillon, cheers m8!

Re: Suggestion - update FCKeditor module to latest release for CMSMS
Hi Anivision
I've already put 3.0.5 into the svn-version of the TinyMCE-module, but there's a lot of API changes, and a lot of stuff that I wanted to rewrite for the next version of the module. It'll get there soon, though, already working here, just have to clean the module adminsitration up some more...

FCKEditorX 1.1.0b1 downloaded from the Forge doesn't work for me when using Firefox 2.0.0.12 it seems. It works in IE7 however.Silmarillion wrote: Hi SPeter and others

Like you said, it doesn't show. I changed the FCKEditor skin to Office2003 and Silver and back to Default but it still doesn't display. I also changed the admin theme, but I'm guessing that's not what you meant by "try to change the theme"
No errors are displayed. There's just a large blank space where the text editor should be. I have also made sure that FCK was the default text editor in User Pref's.
Also using CMSMS 1.2.3.
