can I move the site or do I have to install it where it will reside.

There is already an existing website and I want to set up the new site then move it into the root folder.

- can I just move all the directories to the root folder? (is this going to cause any database problems?) (www.website.com/test/)

- Or is it best to just install it in root and set it up there?

No problem installing to a subdirectory and moving it after. I've done it plenty of times. You just have to update the config.php file with the proper paths, etc.
