Deactivating a page link

Post by hj »

How do i de-activate a page link so it doesn't show in the navigation?

Effectively i want to create a completely new section of the site which isn't listed as a link in the main site pages.

As there appears to be no way of setting up 'sections" (everything it seems is branched from index.php?page=etc), the only way I can think of doing it is by deactivating the new page (the home page of the new section) from the main menu structure.

But how?

i.e. I have five top level pages amd five child pages which show fine in the main menu. then I create a 6th top level page, but I don't want it to show in the menu visible on the previous pages.

Any ideas?

In the Options tab for the page, deselect "Show in Menu".

Many thanks, Nullig.

I simply hadn't seen it because I hadn't thought to look in the options section! Tunnel vision, or rather there's a lot to learn at first with CMSMS!  Might that checkbox not be more logically placed next to the entry field for Menu Text....?  Just a thought (sorry, I realise you are not CMSMS!)

By the way, am I right in assuming that you cannott start new 'sections' of a site, as such?.....and that everything, however you hack it about, is a branch or pseudo-branch off index.php?

I suppose the only true way to start a completely new section (for instance a sub-domain) is to duplicate an instance of CMSMS.....??

cheers
