Moving site to the root: trouble with permissions and content creation

Post by Jevos »

hi,

hade a good working site at www.arcana.nl/cmsmadesimple/ (not fuctional now).

PHP 4.3.11
Apache 2.0.51
MySQL 3.23.58
CMSMADESIMPLE 1.0.4
  Only module installed: Clalendar

Moved all the files to the root, ran a new install with config and temp-directories writable, not creating a database to keep my current content. I created a new admin-user in this install proces.

Site came online, all pages viewable correctly.
I can also log in, using my OLD admin username and password.
My new one doesn't function however.

Logged in with the old admin account i cannot set permissions... which i found out because i cannot create new pages!
Giving myself "set user permissions" permissions in the database directly doens't help as the next time i go to the permissions screen (the check is there for setting permissions) i set all the other checks & click submit, the screen goes to the select-box with admin-group selected but no list showing. Choosing it again, all permissions, including the "set permissions" one) are unchecked again!?

Same with creating a page: the "create content" page shows, i complete the page, click submit; i return to the "create content" page, but aside from the admin-screen horizontal menu and breadcrumbs nothing shows up. The new page is also not in the database.

Curiously, i CAN update pages and newsitems...

[UPDATE] after modifying anything (succesfully BTW) in most cases i don't get back to the screen i started from, but to a completely blank or only partially filled screen.

Any help greatly appreciated as i want to set the page online; our users are staring at a "update in progress" screen

Jevos.

PS when a "new install with creation of tables" is advised; which tables do i copy to keep CSS and content?
