What do you mean with offline?

If you have a local server installed like XAMPP/MAMP etc you can run a CMSms-site on your PC without connection to the internet....

but you need the environment provided such as PHP, MySQL etc....

...and the "off" alternative is not CMSms specific : make a static mirror of your site with wget, httrack or such.

Hi,

I'm running usbwebserver on my pc and it works like a charm. You don't have to install anything; just copy the files under a directory (on your local pc or a USB-device), run usbwebserver.exe, make some configurations and you're ready to install CMSMadeSimple for local preproduction or testing on your machine.

I used XAMPP before I discovered usbwebserver and found XAMPP much more difficult to implement.

www.usbwebserver.com/
The homepage is in the Dutch language, but you can run the usbwebserver-administration panel in English, so this can't be a problem for the not-dutch speaking part of the world ;)

hmmm. usbwebserver looks quite interesting, except for the hard-coded language barrier.

Another option is to install VMWARE player on your PC and run a LAMP appliance. These folks have a nice Ubuntnu Server distro preloaded with LAMP: http://virtualappliances.net

This will give you a virtual Linux box (no gui) where you can install CMSMS. Configure the VA LAMP to use static IP address so that your CMS install will run each time. Otherwise,  you'll need to editing the IP setting in the CMSMS config.php file every time your VA LAMP gets a different IP address.

Another nice thing with the vmware approach is that you can easily backup the whole thing as a simple zip. Restore is a snap.

Good luck on whatever you choose.
