Admin Themes

Post by Ted »

Well, Silmarillion pulled together a great little feature enhancement based on the rc1 release. Admin themeing. You can selected a default theme for the admin, plus, set it on a user by user based, like language.

My question to the community is, if I get this into rc2, is there anyone who would be willing to make up a new more basic theme for the admin for the 0.9 release? I'll have some more details after 0.9rc2 is out, but just think it over a bit.

Thanks!

This sounds like a great idea! I look forward to downloading some new themes.

I have another suggestion for the admin: the possibility to create custom shortcuts that can be shown directly when one enters the admin area. For example, for a specific user group I would like them to only see the following when they enter the admin (with direct links, instead of having to click twice to add a news article, for instance):
  • Add news
  • Add page
  • Edit pages (and possibly select what specific pages a user have access to)
  • Upload image
  • Upload document
I suppose this can already be done by hardcoding (what file should I look for?!?), but for the admin group to do this in the admin area would be even simpler. I know there's something called Bookmarks, but that little tab is almost invisible... Can this Nav tools tab somehow either be added as a normal menu, or better still, be possible to select to show the bookmarks as the only thing a user sees when entering the admin, like a link list?

Hey,
I started testing this theme-ing thing. And my first question is: is working ok with the login page? I created new theme, as in instructions (new folder, file name, class name) - change to that in options - and it still got some bugs: login page is always from "default" theme. Did someone test it?

No... have you seen this topic: http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... 446.0.html? It got some instructions. But as far as i'm concered it got some problems, that's what i'm debugging in last couple of days... for example the login page - always used the default theme...

There's a few confusing things with which login panel gets used.

You have to set the "Site Default" to use your theme, not just your individual preferences (because it doesn't know who you are until you've logged in...)

I think that should work.
