CMS admin page error

Post by ste84ven »

Hi all,

I'm kindna new with CMS Made Simple, so please help me on this issue.

I tried to install blog module through CMS admin page's module manager (my version is CMS Made Simple 1.0.2 "Maui"), but after I clicked "Download and Install", the page showed an error on the bottom page (which I forgot what it was because I refresh the page right away; and the next time the admin page loaded, the error is gone) and the whole admin page now has plain white background with all the admin menu scrolled down. It seems that all the HTML formatting for the admin page (the CSS for admin page) are gone.

Does anybody know how to activate the HTML formatting (CSS) again?

I would really appreciate your help.

Thanks.

the blog module didnt install properly. you need to remove the module.

chown the files and delete them and your css and styling will be back to normal

I just tried to go into the "Modules" menu, and it gives me error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: setparametertype() in /hsphere/local/home/xxxxx/xxxxx.com/modules/Blogs/Blogs.module.php on line 107

hopefully it will help.

you need to delete the partially installed module.

if you can not delete these files (due to permission problems) ask your hosting provider.

I see. so since the error message has "domain.com/modules/Blogs/Blogs.module.php on line 107" in it, then I just have to delete folder "Blogs", right?

yes. however it may have created a few lines in your database, but if your reinstalling the blogs module afterwards, it shouldnt matter

you are right, I can't delete the folder. It says that it's owned by httpd. How can I change the ownership of the folder? I do a little research, and it says there that I have to "sudo" it first (login as admin, I guess???) If you know an easy way to do this, please help me. thanks.

Beware you are running a way too old CMSms version. Today the latest official stable is 1.2.3 and modules' interface has much changed in the 1.1 days. So I think you should remove the half installed buging module (trashing the Blogs folder as said above yourself or with the help of your hosting provider) then backup your database and files, then upgrade by steps (1.0.2 -> 1.1 -> 1.2.3) then if everything works well backup again files and database and then come back in the (sane) module manager.

"Maui" can't be supported nowadays.

Ok. I have inquired my hosting company about how to "chown" the folder, and now the folder has been deleted, and the control panel looks fine now. THANK YOU VERY MUCH to cubix and Pierre.

I am also thinking to upgrade the CMSMS version to the latest one, but I just want to playing around with the current one for now.

Once again thank you all. You are the best.

glad you have it sorted. however, by upgrading you will be able to avoid future problems and the newest version will support most modules.
