IMPORTANT for Documentation Team

Post by versatility »

We are going to be using Basecamp to manage this project.  If you haven't used it before, it is a very simple yet flexible project management system that is going to help us all.

We have the ability to manage Contacts, a To Do List, Message Center, Writeboards, and Chat.  While we have variations of most of these tools right now they are in different spots and this will give us a consolidated place to work.  The development is also going to start using it for overall project management.

We can use the Message Center instead of a combination of the forums and a mailing list.  Everyone who is on the project is notified by email when messages are posted and of course you can log in and comment.

Please PM the email address you would like to use and I will create your account.  You will receive an email with your login info.  Watch your spam folder, the last two I received went there! :)

Basecamp seems kinda pricey - are there no OS solutions?

We've looked at OS solutions, they are all clunkier.  Ted made the call on Basecamp as the tool of choice for CMS overall.

Interesting read, and it certainly affirms we are making the right decision.  We are definitely looking for a done/not done approach, rather than a this task is 36% complete.  No one has time to do hard care project managing in a project like this.

This one looks interesting, but you have to be able to use the InnoDB database engine in MySQL.

Everyone who PMd me their info should have a Basecamp account and received the login info by email.  If you need an account and haven't PMd me, please do so.  If you did PM me and haven't gotten an email, also let me know.

We are ctively discussing structure, planning, approach and really getting moving, so if you want input on those topics, you need a Basecamp account.
