Screwed up big time, need a super hero to save my weekend.

Post by ricardosalta »

Hi all,

I implemented CMSMS in a website I put up for a Portuguese non-profit that works in Africa issues (www.cicportugal.pt).

What I earned from this site almost doesn't pay for my gas and parking meter everytime I come here, so I can't afford to pay for this, but if there is anyone that can help me in the spirit of good will... you are very kind.

I am running this on www.nearlyfreespeech.net.
I first installed in a temporary account name (for testing)
Then I moved to another vhost account
Then, lots and lots of AddMe errors showed up for translations.
I couldn't get it solved, I tried to uninstall and reinstall the news module
Did worse. Homepage started with Smarty errors and so on.
I went to the templates area and applied the default template to all items,
But now I only have

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Navigation

As the homepage.

I am so confused, and I don't know what to do.
I'm nearly zero-experienced with CMSMS, and I am clueless.

Any kind soul can give me a hand?

This all started because of putting up a new news item for a donations request.
It must be up by monday, and I am already fearing for my weekend :( which I badly need.

Let me know your thoughts please.

Thank you,

Ricardo

Ricardo,

how did you transfer the site? Did you transfer all files and above that, made/restored the DB?

Is the old site still working????? Shortest would be just a single index.html file on the new domain, that does a URL forward to the original site....

Ronny, thanks for your reply.

The original site is gone.
I did transfer the files and restore the DB.
I am not absolutely sure that the transfer was the problem.

Could you go into the site yourself and see what you can do?
We'd better IM in that case.

Thanks,
Ricardo

Ricardo,

what version was the original and how did you do the db-backup?
Just Core or additional modules as well?

Core only, I think.
I went to phpMyAdmin and did an export of all the tables
Then imported again to the new MySQL process on the new domain.
It's worked well (frontend-wise) and only had the AddMe--module--whatever (hope you know what I'm talking about -- translations problems) that I couldn't find the reason (all was where supposed to be)
But then it all died (frontend-wise) when I removed and reinstalled the news module.
The backend maintains the AddMe issue.
Thanks

Did you edit the config.php to reflect the new location of the files/db etc....

Yes I did.

I am sorry but this way I think I can't have it solved by monday.

Thanks for your intention though.

Do you think you have the conditions to help me hands-on?

Thanks.

Have you tried to run install w/o creating the DB tables?...
