Adding new modules

Post by Chris_J_W »

Hi, I'm just wondering if there's a way for me to add new modules to CMSMS... I'd like to try a few different WYSIWYG editors as well as more upto date versions of the ones currently available for it (Namely TinyMCE 2, HTMLArea 3, FCKEditor)...

yeah, just download them, extract the folder, and put it in your modules directory. Then when you go to the admin interface, it should show up there and you can install it.

I'll take this opportunity to add yet another thing to wishy's todo list....

the ability to upload and automatically unpack/install modules and plugins would be cool.

I agree. Maybe someone could implement this functionality in a module? If it works it can become part of the admin later on.

This is definitely on the list for a future release. We have to try to figure out all of the security implications before we implement, but it will happen ... eventually :)
Many modules available from the http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org
The CMS Made Simple Developer Cookbook is now available from Packt Publishers!

I don't know in which post wishy mentioned something about this, but he said that he would like to implement this when all the issues are solve about this. Another CMS (see signature) where I am working with has these possibilties. There you can upload a .zip file and this will be automatically unzipped and installed...
