First CMS MS site

Post by Chimpboy »

Hi all,

A very simple site I put together for some friends. As I don't have so much free time any more I was very pleased to find a way of setting up templates and allowing the site owners to do the content themselves. They are not that experienced with computers but have found it all quite easy.

Comments welcome.

The font size for the tree menu (2nd level) is too small and the contrast is too weak. Looks better with IE6 but still font size on the small size.

Thanks for taking a look. I will have to talk to them about the image sizes - this is of course stuff they are putting up themselves, and I haven't been back to check the site lately.

With regard to the font sizes, I think it's fine in IE but am not sure why the fonts are totally different in Netscape. I'll take a look - I'm not sure why I didn't notice this before as I did test the site on both IE and Mozilla. However I certainly agree there's a problem there as far as the appearance in Mozilla goes. Time for some "maintenance"!

Hmm, found one problem anyway. The front page html had ended up with a whole lot of "font face=null" tags and various other font tags all nested inside each other, presumably as a result of edits by the user.

I will have to encourage more conservative use of the WYSIABNQWYG editor.

Thanks for alerting me to this.

a deisign note:

That image at the top there: masthead.jpg should really be a PNG image. You'll get much better quality and you'll probably end up with a smaller image size as well. Take your original image and try either indexing it (mabye 30-50 colours) or posterizing it a bit and you should be able to produce a pretty small, high quality image.

Thank you. I will give this a try when I have a moment, as I have to alter their logo anyway.

Hi Jason

I have previously trained small business owners to set up their own websites using frontpage.

I am looking for a simple cms that once set up will allow small business owners to update their own sites.

I'm yet to play with CMS made simple but it's been good to view your example to see it can be done

regards

Mark
