Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

toying with the idea of CMSms... have several php sites...

Post by mrjamie »

Hi all,

thank you for taking the time to read my post :)

I've been building websites for some years now by hand using php, flash & javascript. Previously I've made my own rudimentary CMS' and have all worked out fine, but have been lacking in the 'finess' of something like CMSms.

My current sites are all setup with includes, page arrays, etc and work 100% smoothly. ...but one of my clients has now requested a CMS for their site that I built last year as they are now expanding.

Rather than use one of me own CMS templates, I have been looking at CMSms...  being one to shy away from more work than needed, is integrating CMSms into my current php site something to be avoided? or will it be easier to rebuild the current site using CMSms?

Thanks in advance, J.

It would almost definately be easier and smarter to convert your existing site over to CMSms entirely..... of course, this depends on any custom functionality you've written in php.... bit if most of your output is static you'd be better off just to do the conversion.

So, just an update...

I installed CMSms and have successfully moved and entire website that I previously handcoded in php to CMSms :) Minimal disruption, had a few issues with altering the CSS on my forms, (that was really an IE issue ) but other than that, really really impressed with the functionality of CMSms.

so, from now on, I can see myself building further web 2.0 sites in plain ole html and CSS and then importing them into CMSms.

Well done guys, really really happy so far with this CMS... and i've tried plenty before!
