There seems to be a significant lack of clarity around the ability to generate SEO friendly URLs inside the news module while using RSS. We are willing to use mod.rewrite (and httpsaccess) or the pretty URL feature - but a number of posts suggest that the attempt is simply fruitless.
Can someone provide instructions (if you have made it work) - of hot to provide decent URLs in conjunction with the news functionality and RSS?
We are using CMS Made simple 1.1.1 with the "out of the box" news capability and RSS feeds.
Thanks much!
Help with SEO Friendly "Pretty URLs" and the News Feed with RSS syndication
Re: Help with SEO Friendly "Pretty URLs" and the News Feed with RSS syndication
I know, I wish the new module can have the "pretty urls" with title-as-filename.html rather than just numbers as filename also since news is updated frequently, but without the nice url and title, it's bad for SEO.
The Calendar module is able to do this and I wonder if the person created that can make the news module behave the same...

What's the update on this? Why won't this be addressed. I was able to get a mod like this work in an older version of news, but it doesn't work anymore.

Hello,
Please backup backup backup (db+files) and upgrade. Then see if your issue is still there.

You shouldn't run a version but the latest official stable one. Today is 1.2.3 (which fixes a big security hole of 1.2.2 which fixes...)jparansky wrote: We are using CMS Made simple 1.1.1
