{SOLVED} Redesigning the Admin Interface.

Post by BlueLaw »

Hello Everyone.

I am totally new to CMS Made Simple, and after clicking around on a few demos I’m very excited about it. I’m just loading it up now….

I’m interested to know any information anyone has about redesigning the Admin Interface – the actual look of the back end.

Ultimately I want to have fairly dim clients editing some small, simple elements of their websites and I want the interface they’re faced with to be simple, bright and limited.

I understand there is probably a permissions setting where I can take away some of the more complicated choices from their options.

But can anyone point me to the right information when it comes to changing the layout of the interface, colours etc. There must be some information on here about this already, but where?

Good to be here gang!
Thanks.
::)

You may want to look at the Theme site as it has some Admin themes you could study...

Look under Downloads above then go to Full Themes under Downloads there, near the bottom...

Mark, I'm lost with your "above bottom" ;-) I haven't found the place of the admin themes.

Here...

http://themes.cmsmadesimple.org/Full_Themes.html

Then scroll down about 5/6 of the page you will see defrebirth.zip an admin theme then farther down is cmssimple admin theme.zip...

Both are admin themes...

Thank you very much Mark. I should give them a try.

BTW, silly me hadn't tried a text search for "admin" on the page : there is even an admin theme for mobile phones.

Exciting times Mark!

All of this looks very interesting. I installed CMSmadesimple without a hitch, that's the first time I've gotten a content management system to do that! - and it's all looking very promising indeed.

We'll probably return to this topic soon,
in the meantime, thanks!

EDIT.

Copy That Mark, didn't quite know the etiquette here. I'll unsolve it if anything comes about.

Not entirely,

There's just so much to take in I'm working a little bit at a time. For example, in my final designs I want the interface to have little welcome messages and help topics written by me. My own explanation of what each thing does, so that it's very easy to use. But as I say, I need to work bit at a time. So I might be back. So far so good though, I really appreciate the support here!

Many Thanks.
