How I can connect to data base?

Hello I'm new user to CMS, I tried install new version but there are error in step 3, my  data was:

Database Type:  MySQL 
Database host address : localhost
Database name  : cms
Username  : control
Password  : ******
Table prefix  : cms_
Create Tables (Warning: Deletes existing data)  :select checkbox
Install sample content and templates  : select checkbox

I using phpMyAdmin 2.6.1 & MySQL 4.1.9-max

this message will view when I click continue

Could not connect to the database. Verify that username and password are correct, and that the user has access to the given database.

I created data base under name (cms_) and but it in web site folder and in installer folder but the problem is still.
please any body help me.

When creating DB you make or are given user name and password and they should have full rights to DB then use these for this step, some times DB address is not localhost this should be found where you make it...

If you're using WAMP your user name might be root and password is blank (that means no password). This is usually the case for me when using WAMP.

using root account is not a good option.

create another account which has only the rights needed for running any given situation.

root account is only for maintenance (or even better create another account for that too with more permissions).

Hello every body ,
thank you for helping, but my problem is still existing, when I created DB there are no chooses to (user name and password). So,I created DB without user name and password.
But in install in step2 ask me (user name and password) ,if I cancel user name ,I'll show this message:
Username not given!
if I cancel password ,I'll show this message:
Not both password fields given!

what is the wrong?

what is the WAMP?. I don't think used it.

use myqslclient to create new user and give permissions for your new db.

the installer even tells you what commands to run..

I am having the same problem connecting to the database I created. I have ceck and double checked and can't find anything wrong with my setup. I installed CMSMS using the instructions for How to install CMS Made Simple using cPanel.

'How to Create a Database' and 'How do I connect to a database' are not CMS Made simple specific topics.  If your host didn't give you the correct information,  or you lost it, it's an issue between you and your host, and not a CMS issue.

Please drop this topic from this forum and take it elsewhere.
