CMSMS with Surftown (safemode)

Post by ila-a »

Hi everyone,

I did install cms made simple today. But the big problem is that i have surftown. Surftown dont let the members to change safemode, and the support dont want to turn safemode off, they do say that its better for the security...
Im not directly happy that i did choose surftown, but my question for you is.. can i still use cms simple made with safemode on?

I did try to upload a image from the website, and i couldnt, what more problems can i find if i have safemode on?
Do u recommend that i start my project and use cmsms with safemode on?

Is there any other soloution? when surftown dont want to disable safemode, and i cant do it either.. i have even tried with adding htaccess. file with modifications to turn it of, but surftown dosent allow that.

My only choice is to live with it, if u guys dosent have any other soloution!

i will be happy if u wrote anything that could help me!

have a nice day

CMSMS works fine in safemode, you'll just need to get used to FTPing to upload files (including modules). Like Mark said, if you search the forum for "Safe Mode" you should find a lot more info.

HTH!

Hi,

Yes i have searched for safe mode here, but nothing did help me! example, how can i upload xml files when i cant do it from the homepage! When i did search for safe mode here i did read about a other method, it was about installing cmsms on a localhost and then upload the themes and modules to ftp after that. But that would take more time!

Hotaru, i can use ftp, but i cant upload all sorts of files! if u have any idea i would be happy to read about it!

And remember that i cant use any trick like htaccess file or something! this is the error message i get when i try to upload a xml file!

"Error!

Problem saving the files encoded in the theme."

and i have even tried to change Mask (umask): to 000, and 002. dosent work!

................
update:

now i did try to upload xml theme file with ftp, but i couldnt.

sitename/uploads/themedirectory/

i get error message that "permession denid", then i try to change it to 777, but it gets back to the old option by it self.

Solution: Give your host the boot.

You can find cheap hosting that gives you flexibility i.e. godaddy and dreamhost
