Getting 404 Forbidden error on install...

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Getting 404 Forbidden error on install...

Post by Mexx »

Hi,

I've used CMSMS on a few projects and have been very pleased with this system.
I've just uploaded and attempted to install the latest version - 1.2.2
After the first screen of the install process 'Checking permissions and php settings', I click the continue button and get this errror:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /users/freedomt/install/index.php on this server.

Apache/1.3.27 Server at server19.web-mania.com Port 80

  • PHP version 4.4.2, Perl Version 5.6.1
  • MySQL 4.1.20
  • servers are Linux based
I've not encountered this on any other installs although I am using a host I have not used before (Webmania), is this a server/host issue or something else? Can anyone please help?

Many thx.  :)

Yes, I think this is not CMSms related, but hosting-webserver related. Put in a /users/freedomt/fake.php file and point your browser to it to see if it works or forbids. And try a static HTML page too.

Hi again,

I still think it is Apache config related and not CMSms.
Please retry the phpinfo and static page tests inside the install folder.
Have a look at your http logS to narrow the source of the problem.
Have you read the troubleshooting section of the manual ? for example the FTP agent issues ?
Another test : does another PHP-SQL application (say phpmyadmin) work ok ?
