Hi,
I think I installed CMSMS to the wrong directory on my web site. When I want to administer my web site, I have to enter:
http://www.mysite.com/cmsmadesimple/admin/login.php
instead of
http://www.mysite.com/admin/login.php.
Also, the home page of index.php sits in http://www.mysite.com/cmsmadesimple/ instead of http://www.mysite.com/.
Is it possible to move the directories one level up without causing problems or do I have to reinstall again?
Thanks.

How To Move Installed Directory?
Re: How To Move Installed Directory?
Frederick,
several posts are on this forum to describe the procedure, I just picked one.

If you want more, you can search for "move site root".

Re: How To Move Installed Directory?
Ronny,
Thanks for the link. I am very new with the web site maintenance thingy so I just decompressed the installation file (after modifying it to remove the CMSMADESIMPLE directory) and performed the installation again, this time from the root and it works OK now. I had the luxury of doing the installation again because I had not changed the default web site yet.
Thanks.

Re: How To Move Installed Directory?
I just was reading this thread and I wonder if I have installed to the wrong directory as well. I have uploaded the whole cmsmadesimple folder into the public_html directory as well so when I want to login or have a client login they will go to http://www.mysite/cmsmadesimple/admin/login.php. Did you determine that this is wrong?
Re: How To Move Installed Directory?
Tracy,
I do not believe there is any right or wrong here.
What you described sounds like the default installation and folder structure.
You could consider changing the subfolder 'cmsmadesimple' by renaming to an easy name like 'cms' or moving everything in the cmsmadesimple folder to the root folder, in your case public_html, for ease.
If you were to rename the folder or move, you would have to follow the directions in the link provided by Ronny and your admin access would become, http://www.mysite/cms/admin/login.php or http://www.mysite/admin/login.php, depending on whether you renamed or moved.
Generally, simple indeed

Re: How To Move Installed Directory?
Hi guys.
Im in the same situation that fchintc was in. I have followed Ronnys instructions but I have found new problem.
The admin panel is no longer updating the site in the root directory. I have kept the files in the original CMSMadeSimple directory and they seem to be updating fine.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
