Why not!  ;D

I know only about joomla and that ...... sucks, because it isn't really free to build with graphic (design) and template, with cmsms can I build a site without design problem. The other cms don't know, never try this :)

i came from drupal. and having some design background, im loving the ease of the templating engine.

and like the name says, its simple.

generally ill have an idea and be able to put something together in several hours with cmsms, but with drupal i did so much reading and coding that it took me days to acheive anything.

just my 2c.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with all above. To me it's the accessibility of the design and the templating system that make it so attractive. CMS's like Drupal and Joomla look good on feature comparison, but I tried to put together a Drupal site, and found it too complex and inflexible. I guess more competent coders might not find it so. I use ZenCart for my commerce sites, and it's a great example of a very capable application that has a terrible user interface, in addition to being very complex.

Reason 2: great user interface for the developer. I love it. Now if we could just get a WYSIWYG that creates clean HTML when used by a someone who knows nothing about HTML, we'd be flying. My only complaint about the user interface. I spend a lot of time training my clients how to edit their content.

CMSMS also has a very active and friendly community. I don't post all that much--but I sure do find a lot of answers I can use on the forums. So that's another thing that's great about CMSMS. there's 3.

Hi!

I installed and tried *a lot* of CMS systems.  This was the first one where I didn't need to  fickle 'round - it was all there, quite logically organized, and intuitively to work with. I immediately felt at home - love on first sight. This system is a godsend - it lets  you  concentrate on your work.
Ok, for ultimate ease you have to have some background. But then you can modify it so that it works perfectly with your server setup, with the tools you use, and, most of all, with your clients.

This is the first system that I can hand over to a client, show him the admin section, give him a half-hour lesson - and that's it!
This CMS literally changed my life - for me, it brought back the fun into the creation of websites.

With only a bit of PHP knowledge you can write plugins or tags which truly make your website come to life. This is so easy - the system really lives up to its name.

PLUS: This is a great forum with great support.

Therefore  I can only recommend CMSMS.

There *are* some types of website where I wouldn't apply it (yet): huge, traffic-intensive sites with lots of different user groups and embedded eCommerce functions - big shopping sites or B2B portals for example. (in these cases I would use SELLTEC's "Website Objects" - a closed source system which is not so easy to handle but quite powerful and really scaleable).

But for small to medium sites (medium meaning < 1000 pages, roughly spoken) and not too complex user structures it is the best CMS  I know of. And these are 95% of all the websites I operate.

This may sound a bit exaggerated or "over the top", but you can't imagine what this system did/does for me ...

Cheers,
Alex

I just stumbled on this thankfully seeing that Drupal and Joomla really weren't for me. Like said, it's so simple and easy to understand compared to Drupal. I'm into creating the CSS and design but with Drupal it was hard to integrate everything into my layout. In fact, I ended up using a premade template they offered instead.

I love the admin panel, it's so simple to understand and makes management really simple. I mean, how much easier can you get with a WYSIWYG editor?

Great CMS, easy management, very flexible.

Hello BH,

are you trying to convince a potential customer ?

I like it because it is very intuitive : engineers provide setup, designers provide look/graphics, writers provide content and the templating engine leverages the meeting under the hood.
To me CMSms is some sort of powerfull Apache plugin : I still master URLs, folders, files, rights, xHTML, CSS, any decision about the website and the well polished packaged Smarty engine does all the grunt work behind the scene, including RSS and such.
And I think I have written more documentation (in the wiki) than I have needed to read to enjoy it. Once the requirements are met, it is just plain simple and efficient.

I agree with all of you. I use all sorts of CMS systems including some very high end expensive enterprise solutions and I love CMSMS. So do my clients which is all I care about. Easy to train them on and get them up and running self sufficiently almost immediately. Almost everything (if not everything) is customizable. Well done and I still think CMSMS should had taken first place for best opensource cms.

Best of all, after using this system for 3-4 years, I have finally had time to convert my website to CMSMS. Loving it!!

I also like CMSMS for it's relative ease of use. You can just start using it without a lot of preliminary learning. It is very intuitive, clean and uncluttered and let's you get busy developing sites fairly quickly.

I had run a few sites using PHPwebsite and I can tell you the ease of using CMSMS compared to PHPwebsite is amazing. Something like reordering pages in PHPwebsite took forever to accomplish whereas in CMSMS i'ts a breeze.

I used Joomla for one client because it seemed to make sense at the time.  The client sells fine antique prints, and their inventory is constantly changing.  Obviously each print is a "item" and each "item" falls in a "section" (the artist who did it), and generally each "section" falls in a "category" (maps, botanicals, birds, historic, etc).  That is exactly how Joomla is designed.  However I had to get into their code to do some layout modifications, and every time they put out a new upgrade I have to re-do my mods.  The whole idea was that the client could maintain their inventory themselves, but I am putting in much too much maintenance to keep the site running.  My conclusion is that a custom programmed database would have suited me better.

On the other hand I would not recommend this client for CMSMS either.  CMSMS has the basic unit of a website as a page, not an item.  That is a better and broader definition.  Even though this client may not be suitable, I can use CMSMS for a great variety of other clients.  All my "brochureware" sites are henceforth going to be in CMSMS in hopes that the client will modify them from time to time.  And for any client who wants to control their site CMSMS is ideal.

If the architecture of the prospective site matches the architecture of CMSMS then I will use it.  The basic architecture of CMSMS is that a site consists of pages, and pages may be shown in menus, and with certain templates.

The other advantage of CMSMS is that it nicely separates the functions of artist, web engineer, and content provider.

I'm new here - I've designed / maintained about 50 websites. But, I keep running into customers who want to make their own updates. I got seriously burned w/ Mambo - created a custom template for the customer, everything installed, they came out w/ an update that I didn't read closely enough and my template no longer worked. I lost tons of hours and had to convert the customer to a regular site. Plus the fact that it was much too difficult for my customers to figure out - just trying to add a page was nightmarish - never could understand the menu structure and how to add content.

I just sent an email to a customer last night - took me about an hour to get her site up w/ the pages she wants, I think it's very straightforward for her to add content.

I'm hoping this will be a good fit.
