Hi,
Just looking for some good CMS software (which CMSMS is of course!) and was looking for a forum module to go with it. Does one exist? If so is it any good?
Advice and pointers gratefully received.
Sarah
Is there a forum module available?
Re: Is there a forum module available?
Yes there is. But is is relatively simple. It's advantage lies in tight integration to CMSMS (namely FrontEndUsers module). So try it and you'll see.
There is also attempt to integrate CMSMS with phpBB2, but it is most likely not maintained anymore...
Tip: Next time when you will need particular module, please try searching our forge. It will be lot quicker for you
Hope your search will suceed,
Milhaus

Thanks for your advice! I'll have a look and see...

Yes, this would be good solution if someone doesn't need FeUsers functionality. There is some limited visual integration posssible, through means of RSS.secoif wrote: Pain in the ass, no integration with CMSMS
Re: Is there a forum module available?
I have been scouring for a forum that could be made seamless with CMSMS. The answer is NOT forum made simple as it is no where near ready for primetime.
Second choice was myBB. Reasons ->Had only one hit in Cyber Security when all php got hit with cross-scripting ~July 2006. Easy install, simple/complex as needed. It has the same problems as others in that there is not an easy (user) integration method.
Search the forum here and get very few helpful hits.
Search myBB (and a few others) for bridge to CMSMS and you definitely do not get any helpful hits.
CMSMS <- Only CMS choice worth mentioning.
myBB <- Great product but no integration.
FMS <- not ready and has been stagnant since October 2007 as far as I can tell.
phpBB <- buggy and many hits on Cyber Security.
SMF <- Spammers dreams come true.

Re: Is there a forum module available?
Thanks for the info, I too found little on forum integration info. In the end I found that CMSMS + myBB gave the best 'overall' (although not perfect) forum for my needs so that's what I went with! I expect that, in the end, CMSMS will find a way to tightly integrate a forum. Oh, I will admit to looking at, ahem, Joomla too and found forums which integrate tightly.l BUT Joomla is NOT CMSMS which is king in my book.
I redeemed myself at the end there!
Thanks
Sarah
