Image / FileManager -> Can one ?

Image / FileManager -> Can one ?

Details:
OS: Linux 2.6.14
Distro: Ubuntu 7.10
CMS Version: 1.2.1

In ShopMadeSimple you can upload images for categories / products etc. What i want to know is if there is a way for me to hand over the uploaded file to the image manager for creating the thumbnails and putting it in the right area via code ?
