I just read a great tutorial on how to give specific users permissions to only the documents you want them to have edit access -- is there a way to do that globally?
Say, for example:
50 A documents
50 B documents
50 C documents
5 Sales users. 5 Accounting users, 5 managers.
Sales only should have access to the A docs, Accounting to the B docs, etc. (For editing.)
Do I have to go into each document and assign all 5 people to each, or is there a faster way? i thought it would be easy to just assign a 'group' to a document, or even better, assign 5 users to a 'group A', then whenever anyone in the group makes a new doc, the other 4 will have access to edit?

Well, 1.2 will allow you to assign additional editor groups, so that's most of the problem.
And I'm working on providing the ability to set 'default' page editor groups, which will help with 1/3 of the problem when adding new pages. but if the pages already exist, then yes, you'll have to go into all of them ad edit them.
In the 1.1.x series, yes, you'll have to go into every page.

Well, with that many documeents (more than 150 that I originally thought)
I'd think about writing some SQL/PHP scripty stuff to make it a bit easier.

It's a LAN Intranet that I have setup for a company I work for, so short of screen shots, I couldn't really make it publically available. I appreciated your feedback on this - thanks.

weel this could make it easier: SELENIUM, this is a add-on for Firefox which records user actions in the browser...billieh wrote:

so u can record it once, you can even make while/for-programming... and define variables
I use this to create same pages in three different languages...
perhaps it makes things easier, it's defenitely great to watch the browser work...
