Mailing "Release announcements" to registered users

Would it be an option, to mail some kind of mail-notification to the registered users after a new release has been released. Preferably after some small delay (24 hrs f.e.) if issues might occur. This way the latest stable is promoted, all are triggered to update, and less environments running on older releases (more open for hacks) are upgraded.

Support will be easier as well, as more-and-more will be on latest very quickly.
