Cannot get passed pressing the continue button in install..HELP!!
Hi all,
Have been reviewing several CMS over the past week. Have installed Joomla, Mambo, E107, Wordpress, etc., without any problems.
CMS made simple is the one I want and yet cannot get passed the 1st install page. I have followed the documentation exactly and yet when I click the continue button it just hangs. Tried all browsers, turned off all anti-virus/spy crap. cleared the cache, etc. Nothing works.
The database is configured according to the docs with the default user info and databse name.
I am using
Apache HTTPD 2.2.4 + Openssl 0.9.8e
MySQL 5.0.45
PHP 5.2.3
PHP 4.4.7
phpMyAdmin 2.10.3
I did a search but could find anyone with the same problem.
Thanks

Re: Cannot get passed pressing the continue button in install..HELP!!
Is this on your own PC or uploaded to a server/host?...
Re: Cannot get passed pressing the continue button in install..HELP!!
The names you set up during DB creation have been input, not the names/passwords in the install instructions?...
Sorry I just had to ask...

Re: Cannot get passed pressing the continue button in install..HELP!!
Yes I used the correct db names and user info.

Hello,
And usual questions : OS, link downloaded, etc...
Please tell use what you have done and how. What you intend, what you see on the screen, on what you clic, what you type, all the warnings seen...
DB Example : I have created a database user called "cmsmsuser" for CMSms by typing this or that and I have granted it rights by executing this or that SQL code.

Re: Cannot get passed pressing the continue button in install..HELP!!
Thanks for the reply. I downloaded the software from the CMS site and followed the documentation for myPHPadmin which is also on this website and included in the zip package. What I see on the screen is exactly what I said in my first post. I have installed 5 other CMS systems, some far more complex to install and ALL of them work without a problem. CMSms does not work for me. I have created a database called "cms" with the defaut "root" user for CMSms by using myPHPadmin.
All I know at this point is that the system hangs when trying to load the index.php file located in the install dir. It just sits and does nothing. No warnings, no nothing. It trys to call the index.php from the install dir when I clic the continue button. That is as far as I get.
I FTPed CMSms into my localhost machine which is a Dual-core AMD PC running XP SP2. Every other CMS in the world runs on it just fine. I created a blank config.php file. The permissions are all correct. Everything is checked and double checked. No warnings and no errors appear. The systems tells me I have all the required files on the first page of the install. Clicking the continue button results in the system trying to load the index.php file and then hangs.
Thanks.

Re: Cannot get passed pressing the continue button in install..HELP!!
Hello again,
so I deduce the install procedure is FTP. And there can't be FTP corruption from localhost to localhost, can it ?
I still don't know the downloaded link. But I don't think you are mistaken about this. Let's suppose you have the right 1.1.3.1 official package.
You are speaking about other installed software. Do you think there can be some inteference ? May be an URL rewriting or a redirection that prevents the installation wizard to work ?
BTW, how do you switch between the two installed PHP interpreters ?

I deduce too that the first screen (of the installation wizard) displays OK. The first pointing to index.php works. You see the palm tree, the welcome message, etc. And all test lights are green, not a single tiny warning. Cool, the problem can't be big.caledon wrote: Thanks for the reply. Re: Cannot get passed pressing the continue button in install..HELP!!
Hello and thanks again for getting back.
Yes I used the link direct off the cmsmadesimple site to download the current version. In fact I can simply copy the files direct into the dirs for the web server without FTP.
All other CMS software has been removed for the time being. Nothing else is interfereing or rewriting/redirecting URL. With this test server setup I can manually switch between PHP versions as and if required.
I even tried creating the PHP file myself and inputing the data, but still nothing. Just hangs..........
Yes the first install screen with the palm trees and all check marks in order and ready to go. Then I click the continue button and it hangs and does nothing.
Cheers!
