editor help

Post by tompaxton »

Hi there

I'm using the standard editor that came with cmsms v 1.1.2 and don't really understand how it works at all. Surely if i am using the 'p' style on one of my pages that i have set in the editor, then when i change the properties of the 'p' style in the css it should change. e.g. the color of the font. However when i do this nothing changes. i also don't understand in general how it works, how do you attach a css stylesheet to it?

Thanks a lot
Tom

Hi Tom,

Sometimes when using the editor I notice that it omits the tags. I think this happens if I use the "paste as text" button.

Check your source to be sure. Otherwise please post a link.

The editor should have any style sheet marked as Media Type: screen in the style dropdown, not all styles will show up on the text you input in the editor but when it shows up on the page it should use the CSS...

To check if it has the tag just click in the text some where and the 'format' should change to show 'paragraph'...

is that right?

Tom,

if you press the HTML-button while editing a page, do you then ONLY see a around the text, or is more available. Often (while pasting text) fonts/styling/size is pasted as well.

For the connected stylesheets, go to the Layout -> Templates and press the CSS-button on the right of the template that is attached to your page. Than all attached stylesheets will be shown. There you can also attach/unattach stylesheets to your template.

ok

there is only around the text. Of the attached stylesheets only one has "p" in it, it must be the one that styles that text, but when i change the size or any property nothing happens.

Thanks for the help.

Tom,

do you have a link. Not only the is the one that can be styled, maybe you have something like:

#pagewrapper p

as well, that is more specific than just the "p".

i unfortunately don't have a link, but the code is really simple, like this: Hello.

So i don't think it has anything else.

Tom,

what I mean is that the Hello is inside some other containers. Pagewrapper/main/content. Styling can be done at several levels. If your content-area is within DIVs, that DIV can have a P-styling as well, not "p" but "DIV p" so to say. Can you post your template and main stylesheet in this topic to see if another paragraph element is active.

Tom,

Try with a semi-colon at the end.

Now,
/* TEXT */
p {
  font-size: 30px;
  color: #ffffff
  padding: 0;
}
MUST BE:
/* TEXT */
p {
  font-size: 30px;
  color: #ffffff;
  padding: 0;
}

Tom,

I have to check later (from home), I don't see the reason quickly.

Hi Tom,

You have probably solved this one by now but as well as the missing semi-colon you are missing a closing bracket on your footer div. It's on line 141.

Code: Select all

div#footer {
   clear: both;       /* keep footer below content and menu */
Which should of course be :

Code: Select all

div#footer {
   clear: both;       /* keep footer below content and menu */
}
Once I copied the code into Dreamweaver (or anything with coloured formatting) the error was easy to see.

Hope that helps,
Bob
